What is an E-signature and How to Obtain One?

An e-signature is a type of digital signature that consists of specific characters, letters, and symbols, and is equivalent to a handwritten signature in the digital environment. For individual applications, the required documents for an e-signature are: a qualified electronic certificate commitment form, an application form, and an original official document such as a national ID card or driver's license. For corporate e-signature applications, the required documents include: a qualified electronic certificate commitment form, an application form, a photocopy of the company's signature circular, an original document containing the applicant’s national ID number (ID card or driver's license), and a recent activity certificate from the Trade Registry Office (within the last six months).

E-signature applications can be made through e-government portals, and the signature can be uploaded via Nüfusmatik devices at population directorates.

Where Can E-signatures Be Used?

E-signatures can be used in numerous applications, including e-invoices, e-archive invoice programs, intra-company and inter-company communications, foreign trade and customs transactions, bank instruction submissions, and many other areas where a wet signature is required. They can also be used for legal case tracking and registry transactions. The integration of e-signatures into chip-based identity cards will reduce workloads and streamline bureaucratic processes in many fields.
